Kelley Taylor - Founder
Kelley Taylor is the founder and Artistic Director of Footsteps Dance Academy, Footsteps Irish Dancers and Footsteps Competitive and Performance Dance Team. "Miss" Kelley began her dance training at age 7 and was dancing in a pre-professional Ballet Company by the time she was 12.
Known for her unique and touching choreography, Kelley Taylor's dance works have been awarded some of the highest honors possible in the world of competitive dance performance. She has choreographed several pieces for the Eastern Shore Ballet Theatre and was afforded the awesome privilege of choreographing (for her more advanced students) the opening number "He is Exalted" for the 2001 Tour for the professional Ballet Company "Ballet Magnificat!" A Master Ballet & Pointe teacher, Kelley Taylor has taught Master Ballet Classes for Dance Master's of America. Students can expect professional Ballet and Pointe technique when studying with Kelley Taylor at Footsteps Dance Academy. Her Jazz, Irish, Tap and Lyrical classes are exciting, fun and challenging. Kelley Taylor's professional dance training includes The Washington School of the Ballet, Home of The Washington Ballet, in our Nation's Capital, where she was trained under the watchful eye of Mary Day, Julio Debittencourt and Martin Buckner. Additionally, "Miss" Kelley has studied and performed with Marion Tracy's studio in Dover with Tatiana Akinfleava-Smith, The Delaware Regional Ballet Company, and Dance Conservatory of Dover with Theresa Emmons. Most recently, "Miss" Kelley's students received awards and trophies ranging from Silver to Hi-Gold at the International Dance Challenge in College Park, Maryland. There her students also received 3 very special awards including "Best Emotional Expression" for her Jazz number "Shining Star", "Over-All High Score" for her Irish dance "Gravel Walk", as well as the "International Dance Award" for "Gravel Walk". Kelley Taylor is fully certified in Classical Ballet, Pointe, Tap and Jazz by Dance Master's of America, the nation's most prestigious dance organization. "Miss" Kelley accomplishments in Irish Dancing have been documented in the March 2000 issue of Irish Dancing Magazine and is the Artistic Director and choreographer for the shore's very own, original "Footsteps Irish Dancers".
This hard driving Irish Step dancing company performs many times each year with a big start each year at the Chesapeake Celtic Festival in Furnace Town, Snow Hill, MD.
